Queens Speech 2014
Infrastructure Bill – Local Land Charges
It has been announced in this morning’s Queens Speech that the Government will be introducing an Infrastructure Bill which is very wide ranging and covers a number of areas, including transport, energy and housing.
Disappointingly this Bill will also include the transfer of the statutory responsibility for the Local Land Charges Register and the delivery of Local Land Charges searches to the Land Registry.
Our thanks go to Land Data for notifying us of the detail behind the Infrastructure Bill.
Whilst the announcement is not totally unexpected LLCI is disappointed that this decision has been taken. We remain of the view that the proposals as published in the consultation paper do not best serve those involved in the property market, in particular the conveyancing process.
We will be looking closely at the detail and be making approaches to the Land Registry for further information and discussion. In addition we will be looking to work closely with the Local Government Association and other local government and industry partners as these proposals move through the legislative process.
