Transition Payment Scheme
13 May 2021
Transition payment scheme for local authorities transferring to HM Land Registry’s Local Land Charges service.
On 26th April 2021, the Chief Secretary to the Treasury, The Rt Hon Steve Barclay MP, announced the introduction of a £26 million transition fund, for local authorities in England and Wales.
The transition payments will give local authorities greater financial support, to help them speed up their Local Land Charges (LLC) migration. And make the homebuying process simpler and faster for everyone.
Last December, HM Land Registry announced its ambition to transfer all local authorities’ LLC data onto the national register by 2025. The new fund in addition to the existing burdens payments makes this ambition more achievable.
To qualify for a payment, local authorities must meet delivery schedule milestones. HM Land Registry will provide local authorities with more details about the scheme shortly.
Local authorities should contact their Delivery Manager or the LLC team if they require more information.
